I love avocados and my husband loves anything to dip his chips into, and this homemade guacamole got a big thumbs up from the big guy! It is easy, fresh, and you can customize it to your spice level. What could be better? Why buy store bought when you can make something that tastes even better yourself? In preparing this recipe I also was able to test out a new cool way to peel an avocado…..
Don’t you just wish you had a tortilla chip in your hand and could dip into this yumminess? Me too!
Here is what you will need…. Avocado, onion, tomato, lime, cilantro, and some spices. Mr Tapatio actually photo-bombed the shot since he didn’t end up in the recipe. I love him in just about everything, but I decided to use some cayenne powder for this recipe instead. Adios Amigo Tapatio!
Here is the trick that I saw on a youtube video and that I was super excited to do my own “Myth Busters” test to try it out. It involves an avocado cut in half with the pit removed, and a drinking glass. Check it out!
And viola! Super simple! I would have taken a video, but I couldn’t figure out how to prop up my camera while using my two hands to do the avocado trick… my chin just wouldn’t hold it steady haha
Next, mash the avocado and throw in some other delicious ingredients, like….
lovely red (purple!) onion minced up very small….
Some tomato…chopped up small….
And some fresh cilantro chopped up… ( I didn’t chop it yet in the picture) be sure to chop it up pretty fine. You don’t want to get a piece of cilantro stuck in your teeth when you are enjoying the guac!;)
With some fresh lime juice and some seasonings it will be ready in minutes and will look and taste delish! Yum! What are you waiting for? Make some of this guacamole today!!
