Home is where you sleep, relax, be yourself, and should be a healthy and happy place. But is your home making you sick? Instead of nurturing your family, is it a toxic environment that could be leading to both short-term and long-term health effects?
I am in the process of detoxing my own home, and here are a few simple areas I encourage you to consider “cleaning up”:
Are you still cleaning your home with bleach and other toxic cleaners? Studies have shown that it can be damaging to you! There are natural options you can buy or it is SO easy to make your own with just a few simple ingredients!
Are you using antibacterial soaps? Studies have shown that among other things they contain endocrine disrupters and could be causing long term negative effects. Good ol’ fashioned soap and hot water are a better choice or I have a great recipe for a homemade foaming soap I love!
Have you read the ingredient labels? You should! Your laundry is either on your body or coming into contact with your skin on every surface (sheets, towels etc) and no matter how good your washing machine is, you still will have residual reside on your clothing. Consider making your own (it’s easy!) or switching to an organic and more natural brand.
These are just a few areas to examine in your home, but please don’t be discouraged or overwhelmed! Pick one and start making positive changes one area at a time. It takes baby steps, but each step you make in using more natural options is supportive and will make a difference in your health!
